Summertime Fun and Learn
Summer at Bright Beginning is a flexible, choice-based enrichment and recreational program designed to bridge learning from the regular school year into summer.
Our program offers enriching activities for preschool, kindergartners, and school age up to age 13. Bright Beginning offers camp-style programs, called SUMMERTIME FUN AND LEARN.
School Age
Program Highlights
> Eight interest areas offer a balance of child-initiated and teacher-facilitated activities.
> Interest Area Information Signs communicate planned activities for each interest area, as well as identify the skills learned
> A family communication area invites families to view key communication pieces such as weekly activity plans and camp counselor profiles.
> Materials, activities, and equipment offer a variety of choices based on selected summer themes, such as Water Works and Sports Spectacular.
> Staff participates in ongoing in-service training to ensure the highest program standards.
> Weekly field trips or guest speakers expose children to a variety of experiences.
> Grow Bright: Read and Write activities are incorporated in the program.
> Staff and children collaborate to plan engaging activities for a full day summer experience.
> An activity book filled with games, puzzles, and drawing pages is available to children.
> Children are learning or reinforcing a variety of skills that help to retain those skills introduced during the school year.

Camp Showtime
Self-expression, drama, music, puppetry, pantomiming, and behind the scenes prop making have always been a fun part of summer, from neighborhood skits and plays to lip-synching and charades. Theses activities will give children the chance to try on a new role and provide an outlet to be who, where, and what they dream of being. Camp Grow Bright
Activities in this area can challenge children through literacy enrichments including writing workshops, reading expos, and learning new languages. Other possible activities: Poetry·« Classroom newsletter·« Storytelling
Camp Safari
What would summer be like without the gifts of nature: little critters, bugs, flowers, and the environment? When you think of summer you often remember all the outdoor activities you enjoyed from visiting the park to exploring those gifts of nature. Children need to learn how to respect and protect Mother Nature. Activities to promote this might be: Neighborhood clean-up·« Trips to state parks, nature reserves, animal habitations
Camp Muscles
Activities in this area will physically prepare children while also allowing them to engage in energetic play with friends and teammates. Other possible activities: Fitness and sports·« Juggling·« Indoor and outdoor games
Camp Talent
Creative works of arts and crafts will be highlighted. Children will create projects with a variety of art mediums and models. They will be encouraged to utilize their creative talents and display them for everyone to enjoy. Possible activities include: Photography·« Jewelry making·« Leather craft
Camp Chef
This area can include all aspects of food. Children will have the opportunity to experience new cuisine, learn how to follow recipes, understand proper hygiene and food preparation techniques, and revisit some old time favorite recipes! Possible activities include: Writing cookbooks·« Blue ribbon pie contest·« Pizza/sandwich/salad bars
Camp Contractor
Working with wood satisfies children and offers exciting challenges while they are learning in various curriculum areas. Children will have a great time learning how to safely use equipment at the woodworking bench as they form, build, and transform materials into 3-dimensional objects. Activities they might enjoy include: Scrap sculptures·« Jewelry hang-ups·« Toy boats or wooden cars
Camp Challenge
Children love to play games over and over until they feel accomplished and victorious! This area provides familiar games and activities, as well as new ones that challenge the children. Some ideas include:· Chess, checkers, and strategy games·« Computer games·« Building models or “repairing” electronics

During day camp, preschoolers from 2 ½ -5 years old get to hang out with kids their own age and enjoy all kinds of fun, creative and educational activities. Things like building Popsicle sculptures, making musical instruments, twisting up a pretzel, or catching some sun with outdoor fun and games. They’ll have a fun while learning new things, all within a safe and nurturing environment.
Camp Read and Sing Along
Whether around the campfire or in a cozy quiet corner, the beat goes on as children enjoy books, music, finger plays, rhymes, singing, and many other pre-reading and pre-writing experiences. Other possible activities include: Making and playing instruments·« Poetry·« Book making
Camp Imagination
Imaginations run wild as children challenge themselves with opportunities for self-expression through storytelling, drama, and puppetry. Other possible activities: Plays and skits « Prop box enrichments « Puppet creations and shows
Camp Discovery
What would summer be like without the gifts of nature and being outdoors? Mother Nature always contributes unexpected surprises for us to celebrate and enjoy, and what better time than summer to investigate them!

Camp Jr. Muscles
Children will have the opportunity to work off some of that excess energy while having a great time either outdoors while catching a ray of sunshine, or indoors catching a blast of cool air. There will be lots of time for these activities: Skipping rope and other sports·« Music and movement
Camp Create
Here is the opportunity to highlight those priceless creative works of art. Children will experience and create with numerous art mediums and models and learn to utilize their creative talents while displaying them for everyone to enjoy. Camp Jr. Chef
One of a child’s all time favorite things to enjoy is food. All aspects will be explored from preparing to taste testing. Activity possibilities might be: Nutritious snacks·« Cooking safety·« A family cook-off or bake-off
Camp Challenge
Observing cause and effect, making things fit, and figuring things out are favorite past times of all children. They will flock to do activities in this center when it’s hot out and time for a cool seat in the shade or some quiet indoor time.
Possible activities include:
